Hello everyone, for one last final time! I can’t believe that the end of the semester and my first year of university is here! It all seemed to go by so fast and crazy. My initial expectations for this course and my first impressions before taking it were beyond anything I could imagine. My high school teachers always told me that they were preparing us for university, but they were awfully wrong. My experience in this first year was unlike anything that they ever told me. The creative freedom that we had and the much more relaxed vibe that everyone had here was amazing, and I found the transition a Lot easier than I was told it was gonna be. I’ve found this first year of writing, producing, filming, and even acting (!!!!) so much easier to work hard at and enjoy than sitting in math class in high school. My classmates have all been amazing and I have never connected with a large group of people so easily. I made so many good memories this year, I cannot wait until the next to make even more! Is;m super grateful as well to have amazing instructors to mentor us, and joke around with us. The energy in class is always relaxed and easy going, which really allows me to be more creative and reach farther with my thoughts than ever before. This really affects my writing as well; I hated writing before this year, as the only form of it I was subject to in high school were essays and the odd poem here and there. Now I get to be goofy writing ads, write for the ear and not the eye, and just feel loser than ever before. It gives me a sort of feeling of relief to how free I can now be when writing. College has also broadened my horizons in the world of audio and video editing. I never new how to make somebody sound amazing or stitch video together seamlessly, let alone “make an edit” until this year. I now feel super confident in my production abilities and always have a blast making videos or commercials. To top all this off there’s even acting! I have never acted before this year and never planned in having any interest in it, but theater classes this year really opened my mind to it. I feel more comfortable in my own skin, and feel like I can collaborate with people more easily than ever before. Plus, acting is an amazing break from any stress and worry in life. just spending hours down on the stage goofing around with friends really takes lots of pressure of your chest, and gives a mental reset for any work left to do. Overall, my first year out of high school blew me away with the possibilities that life has to offer, and gave me so much optimism to my future in radio and media. I have learned so much this year and enjoyed all my experiences that I cannot wait until next year starts learn even more. My Teachers, classmates, and new mindset on school has made me enjoy getting up in the morning and going to class more than ever before.
I hope I can share some of my experiences of next year with you when the time comes, but I guess this is so long for now!

Well hello there fans. I’m back again with the third installation of the monthly blog posts! I will be honest, there’s not much to write about variety wise because of this whole Coronavirus stuff. It’s been two weeks since we have been in school and my whole schedule has changed. I personally love the change of pace for school with the online classes, as I feel a lot more relaxed during “school time”, and I get way more work done at home than at school. I never was able to focus doing homework not at home when I was in high school, and the same goes for university too. I’m super lucky to have my little work space in my bedroom where I can just sit and concentrate with no distraction or interruption. I feel my writing and other general schoolwork has improved since I took the time to make myself this little space where I can be creative. The time at home has also allowed me to take better care of myself physically. I find myself having a lot more time to stretch and tend to any nagging injuries that I may have. I also get to work out a LOT more than I did when school was still in; getting to go on runs and doing more cross fit type workouts has really helped me become more active in the day, but also more focused and active in my brain when it’s time to do work.
Although there are many positives for me that come with the self isolation process, I do miss my classmates and miss getting to have the normal routine of walking to school every day and prepping for the day. Having normal class structure is nice, and goofing around isn’t as easy to do in an online class. The friendship in our class is unlike I have ever witnessed in school, and I love how close all of us have gotten. I do hope that the virus gets under control, and the curve is flattened. I miss my friends and hope I can see them all again soon. I’m super excited for next year and being back in class making great memories and even better futures for ourselves. I’m super thankful for how well our classes and out teachers transitioned to an online format, as it made the jump for us students a super easy one. I am super interested to see where school ends up for us, and how the rest of the our time at SAIT this year turns out. In the meantime I’m gonna keep sitting in my room and play video games. Thanks so much for reading and catching up with me for the month of march! I only have one more month of writing this blog, but I may continue it into the summer as well as update my website, so make sure to keep checking back every so often to see what I’ve been up to!
cheers,
Cole
Hello again all my loyal fans worldwide. It’s me Cole and I am back with the second monthly blog post! Nothing much has happened to me since the last post, I have been playing volleyball still and just grinding away at school making sure that everything I do is perfect. School for me can be very stressful, knowing that you have to come and put in your all every day in order to succeed in this career, and that there are no days off at the beginning. Some things that I learned to do and that anyone to do at home or in their stressful lives. My first escape from the real world and school is activity. I play a lot of volleyball, and that allows me to relax for a few hours a day and release some built up stress or anger. I also love to go skiing and hiking. The outdoors is so relaxing and calm, which allows almost anyone to let go. The mountains are such a serene place that I find myself wanting to be there more and more often. Skiing is one of my favourite things to do in the mountains as well. The effortless gliding and all the beautiful scenery makes me want to ski every day. Another way I get away from stress is actually learning about things that I am interested in or have never hear of before. I listen to a lot of podcasts on my way to and from places, and all of the subjects fascinate me. From podcasts about comedy to insight into other people’s lives, to podcasts about how stuff is made and the history behind it, there are so many endless possibilities. With so many things that I can learn about and laugh at to take my mind off things for a while. With things like these and all the small stuff like spending time with family and keeping up healthy eating habits and sleep schedules, you’ll be able to come back to any work you have feeling refreshed and happy. Although I say I’m stressed about school, there are a lot of fun aspects that I have been liking. I have loved writing scripts and commercials so far and have found that I have so much creative freedom with any script and allow myself to do more with a piece of writing than just writing an essay per say. I have also found production to be amazing for me. I am a very hands-on person and producing audio and video is the closest I can get to making things with my hands in radio. Doing those two things are the only times that I have wanted to come home and do homework since kindergarten when we had to colour in shapes for homework. I am super excited to continue to grow in all areas of my creative work as I go through school, and I hope you as readers are excited to come along with me!

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
